We believe in the power of creative education…
…and this is built into all of our activity.
GRAFT supports schools, young people, families and local residents to access visual arts as viewers, makers and critics. We believe that arts engagement plays an important role in empowering communities.
Every programme we deliver includes a learning and engagement strand which meaningfully connects exciting artists from across the UK with audiences.
We think viewing, making and discussing art are accessible activities.
Here are some of the ways we promote learning and engagement with visual art…
-
Artist-led workshops
We work with artists to offer fun, creative experiences to wide audiences. We’ve brought artists into schools and run activities on pop-up market stalls.
-
Community consultation
We chat to local residents about what sort of activities they would like in their area. This directly impacts our programme, making sure it’s community-focused.
-
Youth leadership
Some of our projects place young people at the centre, supporting youth empowerment through curatorship and arts engagement.
-
Resources
We’ve commissioned artists and produced in-house resources which offer activities and pathways to encourage thinking about visual art.
-
Bespoke workshops
We’ve worked with recognised organisations to develop workshops which make discussing and critiquing art accessible and fun!
-
Partnerships
We connect partners to work with different communities and groups towards making creative learning accessible to as many people as we can.
