An exhibition of 3 Black artists curated by young people.
GRAFT’s Changemakers is a project for 13-19 year-olds in or near to Lancaster who want to celebrate equality, fight racism and make positive change in our city.
Between September to November 2020 we have been working with the Changemakers to research, select and commission three emerging Black artists, and curate a socially distanced exhibition around the city.
The exhibition, ‘Voices: Sparking Conversations in Art’ ran from 27th November – 18th December 2020, featuring work by Habib Hajallie, Sumuyya Khader and Herfa Thompson installed outside three historic locations around Lancaster: Lancaster Maritime Museum, Lancaster City Museum, and the Cornerstone by Dalton Square. It was re-shown in March 2021 with support from Lancashire Youth Challenge and More Music.
